Human beings are endowed with reason. They strive for what they consider advantageous to themselves. In their nature, people are shaped by the circumstances in which they live, by experience and by the morally and rhetorically valuable arguments of others.

This can influence them so profoundly that they are willing to sacrifice their own lives for it. That is how strong the resolve it produces can be. Through loving, all-round caring treatment and morally and rhetorically valuable counter-arguments, the opposite resolve can be created. In most people.
