Die Gedanken sind frei…

Nothing in the world is as powerful as an idea whose time has come.
Victor Hugo

One's own advantage completely distorts one's judgement.
Arthur Schopenhauer

The fifth horseman of the apocalypse: the ruin of the environment.

Agrofuel. An environmentally friendly and inexpensive alternative? Hardly. At the beginning of March 2007, the EU environment ministers decided to raise the share of agrofuels in petrol and diesel to 10% by 2020. But domestic farmland is not sufficient to produce these 10% from rapeseed oil alone.

That is why palm oil is used for it. It comes from South-East Asia and South America. Large areas of precious rainforest are cleared to create oil palm plantations.
One hectare of rainforest stores about 300 tonnes of carbon dioxide; one hectare of palm oil plantation less than 40 tonnes.

In 2008, applications were filed in Indonesia for a further 20 million hectares of palm oil plantations: that is five times the area of Switzerland!

The destruction of the rainforest; emissions of CFCs that attack the atmosphere; the pollution of the oceans and continents; only when the last tree has been felled, the last river poisoned and the last fish caught will some people realise that you cannot eat money!

Mankind must rely worldwide on renewable or natural energies. Nuclear power is in principle a good, clean form of energy. If it were not for the long-lived radioactive waste. One large waste dump is still available to mankind: outer space.

It would certainly be worthwhile to shoot hazardous special waste towards the sun.

Otherwise: wind power, solar energy, hydropower, geothermal energy, fuel cells, electric cars etc.

What I gain in years, I shed in expectations – as if I had used up not lifetime, but needs.
