Well?

Out of luck with your life plans too?

Served loyally as a soldier on a 12-year contract, tumbled down the stairs on 09.06.2006 and only just survived? Degree of disability 60 %? No more chance of becoming a fire officer or of many other jobs? No desire to be a doorman or something similar? Where is there a gap in the job market?

I've got it! Freelance philosopher! That would be it! The pay is meagre, but I'll trust in my favourite psalm, the Twenty-third.

Life didn't exactly start easily either. It is not a happy thing to come into the world with a mental ability that is discreetly better than feeble, and at the same time to be a top-notch character. Because that makes you unsuited to growing up with normal people. Because they behave normally.

It started at the age of 4 in kindergarten. Fights over rank in the social pecking order. I had no desire to take part in the nasty behaviour, which in the end meant that I belonged to no group and got a verbal thrashing from everyone.

You can't play here, you can't play there, you're totally stupid, you stink, get lost, yuck! That's how it continued in primary school. In primary school my marks were still good, and I could have gone to grammar school, but since I had the good? idea of staying with most of my class anyway, it stayed that way at secondary school too, where the parallel class also took aim at me, and that was then a bit much.

12 years, year after year, month after month, week after week, almost daily. It wasn't long before my school performance collapsed.

Yeees, you're all right! I really am totally stupid! Sob!

At 19 I joined the Bundeswehr, and with that things slowly changed. I got on well with everyone and mastered all the requirements. Hey, you were lucky! Maybe you're gifted in some areas.

In the second intelligence test during the second job application training I was extremely surprised.

I currently work in a sheltered workshop for disabled people. Until the middle of next year I will still receive transitional allowance from the German Pension Insurance and from the Bundeswehr; after that I will apply for a reduced earning capacity pension. Too little to live on, too much to die on.

Kind regards

The horses of hope gallop, but the donkeys of experience walk slowly.
